Funding Announcement
BRIC 2024/2025 Grant Opportunity
Due to the condensed application timeline for the recently announced 2024/2025 Building Resilient Infrastructure and Communities (BRIC) Notice of Funding Opportunity (NOFO), Cal OES will not be conducting its typical Notice of Interest (NOI) outreach campaign. The timeframe to submit subapplications is simply too short to start from scratch.
Instead, Cal OES will be using a targeted approach to identify and advance potential subapplications that are already in our system, substantially developed, and can reasonably meet the federal submission requirements and timeline.
Under this approach, priority consideration will be given to well-developed subapplications that:
   > meet the priorities in the BRIC NOFO, and
   > can be fully completed within the shortened application timeframe.
Cal OES will reach out directly to applicants whose projects appear to be the strongest fit for this opportunity based on current readiness and alignment with the NOFO.
We recognize this differs from the process used in prior BRIC funding cycles and understand this may be disappointing for some prospective applicants. However, this approach is intended to ensure California is positioned to submit competitive, complete subapplications under the constraints of this year’s federal opportunity.
For applicants interested in future funding opportunities, Cal OES will continue to maintain a rolling Notice of Interest (NOI) process to help identify, track, and support project development over time. We encourage interested subapplicants to continue engaging with Cal OES to be positioned to take advantage of future mitigation funding opportunities.
