Initial Contact
- Engage with PSC representatives to learn how to join CRIS
- Link to “WHY WOULD I JOIN & ELIGIBILITY”
- Obtain signed agreements 607
- Agree to an initial ‘Scope of Work’
Radio Deployment
Option A: Managing your agency radios
- Procure radios compliant with CRIS guidelines
- Program these radios into the CRIS system, using forms 601 & 115 & 606 & 606a
- Program the CRIS system into these radios, using a PSC provided system key
Option B: PSC to Manage your agency radios
- Coordinate with your point of contact in Client Integration Unit to obtain ‘Radio-as-a-Service’ from PSC
- PSC will require a dedicated point of contact to answer agency specific questions.
Console Deployment
Option A: Managing your agency consoles
- Obtain CRIS capable control stations, using steps above
- Connect your control stations to your consoles using desired method (4wire audio or other)
Option B: PSC to Manage your agency consoles
- Coordinate with your point of contact in Client Integration Unit to obtain core native consoles using ‘Console-as-a-Service’ from PSC
- PSC will require a dedicated point of contact to answer agency specific questions.
You can read more on the Pros/Cons of control stations vs. core native consoles here
Additional/Phone Deployment
Option A: Wave Connect.

Frequent Design Concerns
What do I do with my legacy system?
Of course many systems vary in design, but a typical tactic that can work well is to PATCH YOUR OLD LEGACY CHANNELS to the new CRIS channels in a console, allowing users to use both system seamlessly. This approach can help with interop & coverage issues during a transition phase.
Its important to discuss this design concern early in the process with PSC engineering. (I want to say this better, and dont want to repeat it for each & every line; maybe do specific examples with agencies?)
How do I Speak with Agencies that don't have CRIS? (Interop)
How do you do it now? In many cases the answer will be similar. Commonly used tactics include:
-Patch the new CRIS & old legacy channels in a central location (i.e. console), allowing old interop solutions to remain in place
-Preferred long term solution is to program CRIS channels into allied agency radios ahead of time
Does CRIS have the RF coverage I need?
- Here is a Link to the CRIS site locations & Coverage Maps.
- You can extend this coverage using smart connect feature. Read more about SmartConnect here.
- Do we have Mobile Hotspots with Wifi?
- Is there any answer to inbuilding Coverage?
You can also inquire with your PSC Point of Contact about future coverage expansion plans.
Note: Many coverage expansion options are not public safety grade. Read more about the difference here.

***I shouldnt be recommending patching; or need a disclaimer it needs permission
I should have a disclaimer for anything that needs permission
-Should common scenarios be a dropdown?
Note for me: Radio Subscriber forms should answer any question I can ask clients. Should it ask prioriteis etc?
Note for me: If we allow them to program, I explain clearly what we DONT want them doing (Patching, using unauthorized talkgroups, ….)-
Note: For each item above, there should be an intenral document matching. For example customer side is ‘fill out these forms’, engineering side is ‘answer these questions, do a site survey, etc.”
I need to say somethig about In building Coverage; Benito asked a question about building mfers supporting their frequencies
FAQ:

‘My system key expired I am unable to program my radios’ – They designed to expire, work with PSC. If this is an emergency explain the situation, PSC keeps a temporary stock of system keys on hand.
‘I programmed allied agency radios but they are unable to connect to CRIS’: All subscriber radios need to be programmed into the core.
